Strawberry jam

Winter you get plenty of strawberries a fruit I am fond of. This season I thought of making strawberries jam, very few strawberries are used for this jam.

Ingredients

10 ripe strawberries
1 cup sugar granules

Spices (optional)

A pinch of cinnamon powder
A pinchbof nutmeg powder
A quarter pinch of clove powder

Tips

Use fresh strawberries.

I have used less sugar as I prefer the tangy flavour of strawberries.

Wash and remove stem and leaves.

Method

*Cut strawberries into thin pieces.

*In a heated pan add strawberries and granulated sugar. Cook in very slow flame.

*Let the sugar get dissolved in strawberries and it's cooked.

*After a while you will notice the strawberries are tender, nice and juicy.

*The colour of the sugar syrup also will be ruby red.

*Cook further and let it reduce to half, forming into jam consistency. Add spice powders and stir.

* Gently press the strawberry pieces. Off stove and store in airtight jars.

*It will last for a weeks time. Make small batches of jam and relish with bread toast.
