I tried to make a different sweet for my husband who love most of the Indian desserts.
We make a sweet with roasted gram Dal(pottukadlai) but I have added few more nuts to it and made it a more crunchier and tastier sweet.
Maladdu
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups pottukadlai (roasted gram dal)
1/2 cup cashew nuts
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup ghee
1 cup powdered sugar
4 to 5 green cardamom (crushed)
Tips
I have added nuts, you can try adding any other nuts of your choice and a few raisins towards the end before making laddus.
Method
*In a thick bottomed pan pour a tablespoon of ghee, add almonds, roasted gram dal, cashews and green cardamoms until they are crunchy.
*Powder sugar, keep aside.
*Heat ghee in very low flame. Keep aside.
*Once the nuts and gram dal reach room temperature, make a fine powder of it in mixer.
*Add powder sugar, gram dal, nuts, ghee and gently mix in. Once it's done use hands to make laddus. Press and hold for a while as you roll laddus.
*We can make approximately 20 lemon sized laddus. All you have to do is leave it on the dining table in a an tight container. By evening it will be almost over!!
